Cancer Campus® is being developed over a wide perimeter around the Institut Gustave Roussy in Villejuif.
Initial studies indicate that this is major site, unique in Paris Region: it offers a substantial plot of land and the presence of a world-class hospital and research centre, in a location close to Paris, Orly and key hospitals and academic centres.
The site's master plan was completed in April 2010 under the responsibility of the Communauté d'agglomération (district council) of Val de Bièvre.
The perimeter of Cancer Campus® has been defined, as have the conditions for constructing and developing science and university buildings and premises for businesses, services and housing.
A legal process will be launched in 2011 to develop a campus dedicated to the fight against cancer; the campus will be connected to the town, offer an array of services and be easily accessible.
Prior to this process, the district council and the Cancer Campus® Association had staged, in November and December 2010, a series of five themed meetings entitled "The Cancer Campus® Great Debates" so that local residents and the general public could learn more about the project and voice their opinion.
