According to a number of studies, Paris Region has one of Europe's highest concentrations of health-related activities, with research centres, universities and graduate schools, businesses, healthcare facilities and services, consultancies, and more. Its infrastructure (specifically in the field of cellular, molecular and genomic medicine), business parks and clinical trial opportunities make it particularly attractive to businesses involved in healthcare.
In the field of cancerology, Paris Region offers high-level capability in treatment, research and training, particularly with the AP-HP hospital network and the Institut Curie.
For its part, the Institut Gustave Roussy (IGR) is already a flagship centre, nationally and internationally, for treatment, research and teaching in the cancer field, with many calls upon its expertise. It undertakes numerous scientific and medical collaborations with the USA, Japan and many other countries in Asia and Latin America. The IGR also plays a major role in programmes supported by the European Union and provides coordination for several European organisations working to promote medical innovation.
