Cancer Campus Horizons

Cancer Campus Horizons is the name given to Patient Resource Centre events (talks, meetings, conferences, etc.) that provide an opportunity for discussion and highlight new, original and pragmatic ideas focused on creating appropriate changes in cancer management.

These events have a number of defining characteristics:

  • They bring together players who normally would have little opportunity to meet;
  • They provide a significant voice to patients and their representatives;
  • They spotlight information and successful experiences regarding changes to practices or experiences that bring a different perspective to cancer and its treatments;
  • They can lead to proposals for regulatory or legislative change, amended practices or the launch of new research.

Cancer Campus Horizons deals with topics consistent with France's Cancer Plan, while still providing an opportunity to expand to new topics.

Previous events “Perspectives on reconstruction after breast cancer: for whom, and why?” co-organised with breast cancer association Les Amazones s’exposent (6 March 2009),"Social economy and health: innovations and solidarity" (24 May 2009), "Cancer and Sexuality" (9 December 2009), "Physical activity and cancer: it's possible!", co-organised with the IGR, the Ligue Contre le Cancer (French anti-cancer league), the town of Villejuif, the Fédération du Sport et Gymnique du Travail (French Workers' Sports and Gymnastics Federation) and CAMI (French Association of Cancer, Martial Arts and Information) (9 October 2010).
Other events: 17 December 2010: "Regional inequalities in cancer, and information and communication technology", Palais du Luxembourg, Paris. The Patient Resource Centre is involved in the organisation of a day-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of the E3N cohort in spring 2011, in conjunction with INSERM, the Institut Gustave Roussy, the Ligue Contre le Cancer (French anti-cancer league) and the Mutualité Générale de l’Education Nationale (France's premier mutual health insurance group).
