These three partners have created a new, consolidated research facility in conjunction with the IGR called the "Integrated Research Cancer Institute in Villejuif" or IRCIV. The agreement was signed in February 2009 by all partners.
At the same time, the Institut Gustave Roussy has continued its pioneering advances in implementing and accelerating translational research in respect of personalised patient care. In addition, the increased scope of Cancer Campus® and the opening up of new partnerships have added an extra dimension to the site at Villejuif.
Included in plans for the Cancer Campus site are facilities to house a complex of innovation platforms dedicated to cancer research, inter-linked with the region’s other major research centres and accessible to private-sector partners. This type of platform, next to a major centre for clinical and basic research, is one of the key reasons the site so attractive to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, particularly for identifying and validating biomarkers for personalised patient care.
